$50,000 National 12-Goal Tournament Begins Tuesday At Grand Champions Polo Club at Palm Beach Polo
Flight Options/Newport and Port Mayaca will open play Tuesday in the first-of-its-kind $50,000 National 12-Goal Tournament at Grand Champions Polo Club at Palm Beach Polo.
Game time is 11 a.m.
It is the first time in Grand Champions history that prize money will be offered in a 12-goal tournament.
Flight Options/Newport features Melissa Ganzi, Gene Goldstein, Juan Bollini and Michel Dorignac.
Port Mayaca’s players are Harrison Azzaro, the son of Hall of Famer and 8-goaler Mike Azzaro, Leo Mandelbaum, JJ Celis and Stevie Orthwein.
The tournament has a combination of veteran pro players, amateurs and up-and-coming young polo players.
The single-elimination, winner-take-all tournament features eight teams. The other team rosters are:
Palm Beach Polo: Glenn Straub, Tony Calle, Brandon Phillips, Kris Kampsen.
Valiente: Robert Jornayvaz, Pablo Spinacci, Robertito Zedda, Agustin Arellano.
Ride To Shine: Neku Atawodi, Martin Estrada, Malcolm Borwick, Marcos Alberdi.
Casablanca: Grant Ganzi, Carlitos Gracida, Nic Roldan, Juancito Bollini.
Palm Beach Equine: Scott Swerdlin, Alejandro Gonzalez, Luis Escobar, TBA.
Dutta/Tackeria: Matt Coppola, Weston Gracida, Mariano Gracia, Julio Gracida.
The remaining schedule will be announced by polo manager Juan Olivera this week.
