The Sherman Cup is a United States Polo Association arena inter-club tournament, officially kick-starting the fall and indoor seasons for the Northeast.

George Sherman was the only person to be Chairman of both the Indoor Polo Association and the US Polo Association.  College polo came of age and indoor polo grew in popularity championed by George Sherman and Robert A. Graviss. Sherman graduated from Yale University in 1934, he was captain of the polo team in his freshman year and the George Sherman Memorial Trophy First awarded in 1935.

The Sherman Memorial was a highly desired tournament to compete in, but it has only been played for once in the last twelve years. In 2015, it has been a common goal of Country Farms and Greenwich Polo Clubs in conjunction with the USPA to bring this tournament back to the spotlight.
