Rum has its merits but when it comes to the sweet stuff
you can’t argue with 400 years of Brazilian heritage
Distilled from pure sugar-cane juice, cachaça – the
national spirit of Brazil – is a close cousin to rum, and
has been made in the country since the 1530s. The spirit
delivers a fresh and complex taste, adding vibrancy to
classic rum cocktails and a refreshing drop of
authenticity to a traditional caipirinha.
After the successful launch of the flagship and
award-winning Yaguara organic-blend cachaça
in 2015, Brazil’s premier producer has introduced
two new expressions into the UK market:Yaguara Branca
(40.5% ABV), an unaged white cachaça, and Yaguara
Ouro (42% ABV) the brand’s first aged expression.
‘Cachaça has so much to offer the world of spirits –
there are thousands of fabulous artisanal liquids back in
Brazil waiting to be discovered,’ says co-founder
Hamilton Lowe. ‘Yaguara’s vision is to help people
discover this world and the character that cachaça can
bring to their drinks. This country has multiple terroirs,
and with more than 25 types of wood for ageing, the
combinations are fantastic. No other category can offer
this and its great to see people getting excited about it.
