Grand Champions Polo Club 20-Goal Fall Season Tournament Close Dates Extended To November 6

The USPA National 20-Goal is scheduled for November 12-20 and USPA North American Cup is set for November 16-23.

The 20-goal tournaments feature some of the nation’s most talented polo players including America’s top-rated Nic Roldan, rated at eight goals, and attracts the largest crowds of the fall season.
In last year’s USPA National 20-Goal tournament, Audi’s team of Marc Ganzi, Jeff Blake, Sugar Erskine and Carlucho Arellano defeated Flexjet, 11-8, to win the coveted title.
Erskine was named Most Valuable Player. Little Boy, a 7-year-old Dark Bay gelding owned and ridden by Erskine, was named Best Playing Pony.
Erskine will be sidelined for three months after a recent accident on a polo field. He underwent successful surgery in Houston. According to his family, he will be immobilized in a brace for three months. He is expected to be back on the polo field for the 2017 winter season.
Travieso is defending champion of the USPA North American Cup. The foursome of Tony Calle, JJ Celis, Facundo Obregon and Jesse Bray defeated Flexjet, 12-6, in the final in front of a packed
house.
Bray, a member of Team USPA, was named Most Valuable Player. Thirty-Two, an 8-year-old Dark Bay mare, ridden and owned by Celis, was named Best Playing Pony.
Grand Champions is the only club in the nation to stage USPA-sanctioned 20-goal tournaments during the fall season.
The United States Polo Association® was organized and exists for the purpose of promoting the game of polo, coordinating the activities of its member clubs and registered players, arranging and supervising polo tournaments, competitions, and games and providing rules, handicaps, and conditions for those tournaments, competitions, and games including the safety and welfare of participants and mounts.
Wellington-based ChukkerTV, leaders in polo broadcasting, will live stream both 20-goal tournaments worldwide with polo announcer Dale Schwetz calling the action.
ChukkerTV’s state-of-the art technology features team challenges and instant replay which made their debut at Grand Champions in January, 2014.
Grand Champions, with nine well-manicured fields, is enjoying its finest fall season in the ten-year history of the club.
The club has already hosted four tournaments. Flexjet (MVP Riley Ganzi, Melissa Ganzi, Juan Bollini, Jason Crowder) won the season-opening Tackeria Invitational with a 7-6 victory over Casablanca. U.S. Trust (Marc Ganzi, Grant Ganzi, MVP Jared Shelton, Nic Roldan) won the U.S.
Trust Cup with a 5.5-3 win over Flexjet. Casablanca (Jared Sheldon, Grant Ganzi, Tony Calle, MVP Jesse Bray) won the Fall Classic with an 11-9 victory over Flexjet. Postage Stamp Farm (Annabelle Gundlach, Marc Ganzi, JJ Celis, Nic Roldan) won the Palm Restaurant Invitational with a 10-9 win over Flexjet.
In addition to the 20-goal tournaments, Grand Champions is hosting seven medium goal, the Carlos Gracida Memorial Legends of Polo game and fifth annual International Cup featuring Team USA against Uruguay.
The remaining medium goal tournaments are: Oct. 27-30 Pedro Morrison Memorial; Nov. 1-6Fall Plates and Nov. 8-13 Polo Gear Challenge.
Roster lineups change from tournament to tournament with evenly-matched teams to help improve player skills and performance. It also serves as a tuneup for polo players for the winter season.
