La Dolfina won against La Fe by a score of 13-5 in the U.S. Open Polo Championship at National Polo Center on Wednesday 10th April, securing their place as the second semi-finalists alongside Valiente.
The Gauntlet juggernaut wasted no time in getting points on the board, with Poroto pulling out 2 early field goals to take a quick lead which they kept consistently throughout the game, La Fe unable to get close despite some nice open play. Substitutions for the pink team saw Marc Ganzi take the place of team owner Louis Devaleix while Dylan Rossiter wore Roberto Bilbao’s shirt.
Foul, knock in and penalty stats were pretty even at halftime but there was no doubt La Dolfina were controlling the game, able to capitalise on their penalty accuracy as well as their opportunities in front of goal to go into the second half with a comfortable 8-3 lead.
The second half was all La Dolfina as they pushed it to a 9 goal lead with La Fe failing to find the goal since the second chukka until finally Elizalde was able to score from the penalty line in chukka 5. La Fe slotted a couple of goals home in the final 2 chukkas but it was a convincing 13-5 win for La Dolfina.
