At the beginning of the last day of qualifying for the 84th Tortugas Country Club Open , in which the Emilio de Anchorena Cup is at stake, on Sunday 10/27 they played on field 6, La Natividad vs. Cría La Dolfina, a match in which the first finalist of the tournament was decided.

With the triumph of La Natividad, which won with great authority by 21 to 9, the finalist was Ellerstina UAE Yellow Rose, which with equal points in the leadership of the group, took the first position after having achieved the victory against La Natividad on the previous date.

There was only a game during the first three chukkers, when Cria La Dolfina took the marks well and forced his opponent to commit fouls, always well resolved by Bauti Bayugar, who finished with 100% effectiveness in penalties (9/9). But after that third set, in which La Natividad was two goals down, the Castagnola brothers’ team adjusted their way of playing, began to reach the rival wickets assiduously and ended up crowning a great victory by 12 goals ahead, thanks to the great game that their two forwards had, Jeta Castagnola and Facu Pieres, authors of 8 goals each. Cría La Dolfina could not take advantage of the fact that it depended on itself and with the defeat consummated, the celebration was for Ellerstina’s men, who next Saturday 2/11 will define the tournament.

Teams and progression:

The Nativity: Camilo Castagnola 10 (8 goals), Facundo Pieres 10 (8, three penalties), Pablo Mac Donough 10 (5, one penalty 1) and Bartolomé Castagnola (h) 10. Total: 40.

Breeding La Dolfina: Rufino Bensadón 8, Diego Cavanagh 8, Alejo Taranco 8 and Bautista Bayugar 8 (9 penalties). Total: 32.

The Nativity: 2-2, 3-3, 6-5, 9-5, 11-6, 15-8, 19-8 and 21-9.

To close the last day of qualifying for the 84th Tortugas Country Club in which the Emilio de Anchorena Cup is at stake, on Sunday 10/27 they faced each other on court 7 of the local club, La Dolfina Saudi, with the return to the starting lineup of Adolfito Cambiaso, against La Hache P. T., who suffered the loss of Polito Pieres, replaced by Lorenzo Chavanne.

It was a victory for the Cañuelas team by 12 to 11 but it was not enough (they had to win by at least 2 goals) and in this way Hilario Ulloa’s team will play the final of the tournament against Ellerstina UAE Yellow Rose.

It was a hard-fought “semi-final”. With the return of Adolfito Cambiaso and the absence of Polito Pieres, it seemed that La Dolfina was going to place itself in the final, but a memorable game by Tomás Panelo, well accompanied by Hilario, the debutant Lorenzo – key in the end – and Fran, prevented it.

La Hache was always with the favorable score to access the decisive match, but four consecutive goals (3 from Adolfito and the remaining one from Poroto), put the game 12-10 for the Cañuelas team, which qualified them to the final, but with less than 40 seconds to go before the final bell, a beautiful move by Lorenzo Chavanne gave La Hache the goal that La Hache needed to reach the final and face Ellerstina.

Teams and progression:

La Dolfina Saudi: Adolfo Cambiaso (h) 10 (6, one penalty), David Stirling (h) 10 (1), Adolfo Cambiaso (n) 10 (4, three penalty) and Juan M. Nero 10 (1). Total: 40.

La Hache P. T.: Hilario Ulloa 9, Lorenzo Chavanne 6 (2), Francisco Elizalde 9 (2, one penalty) and Tomás Panelo 9 (7, three penalty). Total: 33.

La Dolfina Saudi: 2-1, 3-2, 4-3, 6-5, 8-6, 8-8, 9-10 and 12-11.

Judges: Guillermo Villanueva (Jr.) and Martín Pascual. Arbitrator: José I. Araya.
