Friday 27th saw 2 more exciting Gold Cup matches for AureusGV and Jehangiri Polo and second matches for UAE Polo Team and King Power MB Polo.
Match 1:
First up was an exciting and close match between Aureus GV and King Power MB Polo. This was an important and emotional match for the Aureus side who played in honour of their late patron Sunjay Kapur. The win meant a lot to them and they fought hard throughout the match to earn it. While Aureus GV were consistent throughout, starting strong and scoring in every chukka, King Power MB Polo had flashes of brilliance which saw them shoot ahead (going into halftime with the lead) only for Aureus GV to amend their strategy and neutralise, regaining the lead and pushing through to that all important win. Possession was equal throughout but it was Aureus GV who were just able to regain the advantage in the last chukka to win by 1.
Match 2:
Next up, a more uneven match. UAE Polo dominated throughout the match against Jehangiri Polo and celebrated an easy 13-9 win. 3 strong chukkas in the middle of the game gave them the chance to take their foot off the pedal in the last couple to help save their horses. This was their second win in the tournament having beaten Park Place first and it puts them in a strong position for the qualifying rounds.
