Tortugas Open – Day 1

On Friday 10/10, on field 7 of the local club, the 85th Tortugas Country Club Open began, in which the Emilio de Anchorena Cup was played for.

In the opening match of the tournament, the recent winner of the 132nd Hurlingham Club Open and only contender for the AAP Triple Crown, La Natividad La Dolfina, achieved a very good victory against Sol de Agosto by 22 to 12.

After two chukkers in which Sol de Agosto played on equal terms with La Natividad La Dolfina and was even up on the scoreboard; the team of the Cambiaso-Castagnola family began to take the reins of the match, with scoring distributed among the three youngest and a very cerebral Adolfito in decision-making.

Despite the fight that Paquito de Narváez’s team put up during the eight chukkers, the 10 goals of Jeta – scorer of the match – were too much for Sol de Agosto, who also left with good feelings, after scoring 12 goals against the team with the perfect handicap.

Teams and progression:

La Natividad La Dolfina: Camilo Castagnola 10 (10 goals, two from corners), Adolfo Cambiaso (n) 10 (6, two penalties), Adolfo Cambiaso (h) 10 (1 penalty) and Bartolomé Castagnola (h) 10 (5). Total: 40.

August Sun: Facundo Sola 8 (6, one penalty), Paco de Narváez 7 (2), Benjamín Panelo 8 (3, two penalty) and Juan M. Zubía 9 (1). Total: 32.

La Natividad La Dolfina: 2-3, 5-4, 9-5, 13-7, 17-10, 18-10, 21-10 and 22-12.

Judges: Guillermo Villanueva Jr. and José I. Araya. Arbitrator: Nicolás Scortichini.

In the continuity of the first date of the 85th Tortugas Country Club Open, in which the Emilio de Anchorena Cup is at stake, on Friday 10/10 on court 5 of Tortuguitas, Los Machitos El Refugio faced La Irenita La Hache Clinova, with the triumph of the first of the named by a tight 15 to 14.

Second Match

In one of the best matches so far in the 2025 Triple Crown, the two teams looked for the win from the opening throw-in. Although LI LH settled on field 3 from the third chukker and took an interesting advantage, the runners-up of the Subsidiary in Hurlingham always tried to balance the game and be close on the scoreboard, with a very good team performance.

After equalizing the score and with several successive draws, they entered the last quarter 13-13; and there the boys who wear gray became strong again, who with goals from their two best values on the day (Teo Lacau – the great figure – and Victorino Ruiz), achieved a resounding victory that places them in a good position to define the zone and fills the team led by Pablo Mac Donough and Hilario Ulloa with concern. which has not yet found the performance that was expected when the season began.

Teams and progression:

Los Machitos El Refugio: Victorino Ruiz Jorba 8 (5 goals, one penalty, one corner and one penalty 1), Alfredo Bigatti 8, Diego Cavanagh 8 (3) and Teodoro Lacau 8 (7, two penalties). Total. 32.

La Irenita La Hache Clinova: Hilario Ulloa 9 (6, one penalty and one corner), Francisco Elizalde 9 (4, one penalty 1), Pablo Mac Donough 10 (2) and Ignatius du Plessis 9 (2, one penalty 1). Total: 37.

Los Machitos El Refugio: 3-2, 4-4, 5-8, 7-8, 8-10, 11-11, 13-13 and 15-14.

Judges: Gastón Lucero and Hernán Tasso. Arbitrator: Martín Inchauspe.
