2013 Argentine Open
finals set-La Dolfina vs. Alegria

By Alex Webbe

The final of the 2013 Argentine Open Championships has been
set.  Following La Dolfina’s (Adolfo
Cambiaso, Pelon Stirling, Pablo MacDonough and Juan Martín Nero) 20-13 win over
La Natividad (Sapo Caset, Nachi
Heguy, Rodrigo Andrade and Lolo Castagnola), La Dolfina will meet Alegría (Polito Pieres, Lucas
Monteverde, Hilario Ulloa and Frederick Mannix) on Saturday, December 7th
to decide the 2013 Argentine Open Champion.

La Dolfina scored three times in the opening chukker while
limiting the La Natividad offense to a single goal.  At the end of the first chukker, La Dolfina
had the early 3-1 lead.

Two more second period goals by La Dolfina had them on top,
5-1.  La Natividad scored the final goal
of the chukker for the three goal, 5-2 advantage.

Three more third chukker goals had La Dolfina firmly in
control of the match.  La Natividad was
unable to score and trailed by six goals, 8-2.

The two teams exchanged goals in the fourth.  Both La Dolfina and La Natividad managed a
pair of goals.  At the end of the first
half La Dolfina held a comfortable 10-4 lead.

For the first time all day, La Natividad outscored La Dolfina
in fifth chukker action.  Three goals
from La Natividad were countered by two goals from La Dolfina.  La Dolfina continued to hold a solid five
goal lead, 12-7.

The La Dolfina machine continued to perform in the
sixth.  Three more La Dolfina goals had them
on top of a 15-9 score, limiting the La Natividad offense to two goals and
reestablishing their six goal advantage.

La Natividad continued to press in the seventh period, but
there was little give to the La Dolfina defense.  The two teams traded goals with each picking
up a pair.  At the end of the chukker La
Dolfina led 17-11.

Adolfo Cambiaso and company knew they had the game in hand
as they rode onto the field for the eighth period.  La Natividad put two goals on the score board
but La Dolfina scored three times and jubilantly rode off the field in the
20-13 romp.

Adolfo Cambiaso scored eight of his game high 13 goals on
penalty conversions.  Pablo MacDonough
added four goals and Juan Martin Nero scored three times in the win.  Sapo Caset scored eight goals (seven on
penalty shots) for La Natividad.  Lolo
Castagnola chipped in three scores with Nachi Heguy and Rodrigo Andrade adding
single goals.

LA AGUADA/LAS MONJITAS 15, MAGUAL 8

Earlier in the day, La
Aguada/Las Monjitas
(Lucas James, Magoo Laprida, Eduardo Novillo Astrada, Alejandro Novillo
Astrada) closed out their high-goals season with a resounding 15-8 win over Magual
(Alejandro Muzzio, Ignacio Toccalino, Marcos Di Paola and Jaime Huidobro) on
Palermo’s Number 2 field.

Just a week after
upsetting La Natividad 14-12, and for all intents and purposes eliminating them
from the competition, Toccalino and company fell behind early, giving up three
goals in the opening chukker.  Unable to
score, Magual found themselves trailing, 3-0.

A second chukker
Magual offensive outburst saw them put up five straight goals.  This time it was La Aguada/Las Monjitas who
couldn’t score.  After two, Magual was
leading, 5-3.

A determined La
Aguada/Las Monjitas foursome returned to the field in the third and scored
twice while shutting down the Magual offense, 5-5; and repeating the feat in
the fourth for a 7-5 halftime lead.

A four goal fifth
chukker extended the La Aguada/Las Monjitas lead to five goals.  Magual was held to one goal and trailed 11-6.

Two more sixth
chukker goals watched the La Aguada/Las Monjitas lead grow.  Magual scored once but fell further behind,
13-7.

The two teams
exchanged single goals in the seventh, 14-98, with La Aguada/Las Monjitas
scoring the only goal of the final chukker for the 15-8 win.

Alejandro Novillo
Astrada scored five goals from the field and another three on penalty
conversions for a total of eight goals.
Magoo Laprida was credited with five goals and Eduardo Novillo Astrada
scored twice in the win.  Ignacio
Toccalino led the Magual attack with four goals.  Alejandro Muzzio scored three times and
Marcos De Paola added a goal in the loss.

The final of the
2013 Argentine Open is scheduled to be played between La Dolfina and Alegria on
Saturday, December 7th.
