The United States Polo Association (USPA) and the National Polo Center – Wellington (NPC) are pleased to announce the 2027 winter season schedule, highlighted by the prestigious Gauntlet of Polo.
Competition will begin in late December and continue through the first weekend of May, drawing players, clubs and fans from across the polo community and beyond to Wellington, Florida.
The season will showcase competition across multiple levels, including the U.S. Open Women’s Polo
Championship, NPC 16-Goal Championship,
National President’s Cup
and annual international event,
which will welcome the II Federation of International Polo (FIP) Women’s World Polo Championship to
the United States for the first time.

As winter returns to South Florida, NPC prepares to welcome players and spectators back to the nation’s
premier polo destination. Competition begins Sunday, December 27, 2026, before the Heritage Cup final
kicks off the new year on Sunday, January 3, 2027, setting the stage for four months of intense
competition across every level of the sport.
For the third consecutive year, preliminary matches of the U.S. Open Women’s Polo Championship will
be hosted by Port Mayaca Polo Club in Okeechobee, Florida, with the semifinals and final held at NPC.
All eyes will turn to U.S. Polo Assn. Field One on Sunday, February 14, as the sport’s top female players
compete for one of polo’s most sought-after titles.
In addition, the
Women of Wellington (WOW) Polo Series
,
a medium-goal league dedicated to
supporting and advancing women in polo, returns to NPC with the USPA WOW Women’s Challenge,
culminating on Friday, January 15.
As the season gains momentum, attention turns to the road to the NPC 16-Goal Championship. This
year’s contenders will compete at venues including Port Mayaca Polo Club as well as the Wellington
Polo Tour (WPT)
,
led by Patagones Polo Club (Wellington, Florida) and a select group of private fields
under the WPT umbrella.
Built around four cornerstone USPA events–the Joe Barry Memorial, Ylvisaker Cup, Iglehart Cup and
Outback Cup–teams accumulate points in each tournament, with the highest performing-teams earning
a place in the championship final in April.
Fans will have multiple opportunities to experience the action, beginning with the Joe Barry Memorial,
which features three Sunday matches on U.S. Polo Assn. Field One, including the final on January 24. The

Ylvisaker Cup follows with two Sunday matches on January 31 and February 7, while the Iglehart Cup
and Outback Cup finals will be contested on Armstrong Field.
As winter reaches its peak, the spotlight shifts to the centerpiece of the season: the iconic Gauntlet of
Polo. Returning as the ultimate three-part challenge, the Gauntlet tests skill, consistency and endurance
against the strongest competition in North America. The campaign begins with the C.V. Whitney Cup
(January 27 – February 21), continues with the USPA Gold Cup (February 24 – March 21) and culminates
with the pinnacle event, the U.S. Open Polo Championship (March 24 – April 18).
Teams arrive at NPC chasing one of polo’s rarest achievements–capturing all three titles. As rivalries
intensify and new contenders emerge, the path to victory remains unpredictable, making the Gauntlet
of Polo one of the sport’s greatest challenges.
While the Gauntlet showcases the sport’s highest level of competition, the National President’s Cup
continues to shine a spotlight on some of the nation’s top 8-goal teams. Now in its fourth season at NPC,
the National President’s Cup will field teams from Regional President Cup qualifiers across the country,
held from June 2026 through April 2027. Any USPA Member Club can apply to host a Regional
President’s Cup, however qualifying events are only awarded to one Member Club in each of the 11
circuits. The Florida Circuit, host of the National President’s Cup, is the only exception, with up to five
Regional President’s Cup events. The winner of each qualifier is invited to the National President’s Cup,
and teams advancing from a club outside the Florida Circuit receive a $10,000 travel stipend.
The 2027 season concludes with a historic milestone as NPC hosts the II FIP Women’s World Polo
Championship for the first time. Running from April 24 through May 2, the international event will bring
together the world’s top women’s competitors, providing a fitting finale to a winter season celebrating
excellence at every level of the sport.
NPC invites spectators every Sunday afternoon from December 27, 2026, through May 2, 2027, to
experience world-class polo on U.S. Polo Assn. Field One. From the season opener to the historic II FIP
