On Saturday 31/10, the ninth round (fifth and last of Zone A) of the 86th Tortugas Country Club Galicia Open presented by Visa began to be played on field 5 of the local club, in which the Emilio de Anchorena Cup is at stake.
In a very important match for the points it awarded for the 2026 Triple Crown Ranking, one of the teams that emerged from the Qualifying Tournament, La Zeta Kazak , beat Don Ercole Larrainvial by 19 to 10 , in the farewell of both from the competition.
After two dominant opening chukkers for LZ, Don Ercole rallied in the third and got back into the game. However, thanks to strong performances from Lorenzo Chavanne and “Sapo” Caset – who scored 14 goals between them – La Zeta gradually built a comfortable lead, securing their second victory of the tournament. Meanwhile, their opponent left Tortugas without a win (they also failed to win at the Hurlingham Open), meaning they will need a couple of victories in Palermo to have any chance of climbing out of the bottom of the rankings.
The teams and the progression:
La Zeta Kazak: Guillermo Caset (h) 9 (6 goals), Beltrán Laulhé 8 (3), Lorenzo Chavanne 8 (8, four penalty goals) and Nicolás Pieres 8 (2). Total: 33.
Don Ercole Larraínvial: Facundo Llosa 8 (8, five penalty goals), Kristos Magrini 7, Pedro Zacharias 8 (2) (Injured, was replaced at the start of Chukker 7 by Mariano González -h- 8) and Felipe Vercellino 8. Total: 31.
La Zeta Kazak: 5-0, 6-0, 6-5, 9-6, 12-8, 14-9, 16-9 and 19-10.
Judges: Matías Baibiene and Gonzalo López Vargas. Referee: José I. Araya.
Second Match
La Natividad La Dolfina, first finalist of the tournament!
On fields 7 and 6 of Tortuguitas (the match changed venue at the request of the protagonists at the end of the second chukker) the ninth date (fifth and last of Zone A) of the 86th Tortugas Country Club Galicia Open presented by Visa was closed on Saturday 31/10, in which the Emilio de Anchorena Cup is at stake.
The winner of the 133rd Hurlingham Club Open and sole contender for the AAP Triple Crown, La Natividad La Dolfina, achieved its 19th consecutive victory since the two organizations from Cañuelas joined forces, after defeating Ellerstina Indios Chapaleufú Vista 18-10 , thus winning the group and qualifying for the grand final of the tournament, which will be played next Saturday, November 7th.
Once again, with excellent teamwork, La Natividad La Dolfina pulled off a victory in a match that started off difficult. After the change of venue, the team displayed its usual composure, and with “Jeta” Castagnola particularly sharp in front of goal – his 30 goals in the tournament put him just 7 behind Facu Pieres, the current top scorer – plus very good performances from his cousin “Poroto”, his brother “Barto”, and his uncle “Adolfito”, the union of the major organizations from Cañuelas reached another final, their fifth since joining forces.
Now they will look at the definition of Zone B, from where their rival for the big decisive match next week will emerge.
