Julius Baer Team joins Abu Dhabi and Bin Drai Polo in the Julius Baer Gold Cup semifinals
Julius Baer Team by Habtoor Polo defeated UAE Polo in their last qualifying match and made it to the semifinals of the Julius Baer Gold Cup together with Abu Dhabi and Bin Drai Polo.
Julius Baer Team defeated UAE by 12 goals to 9 and Desert Palm defeated Wolves by 9 goals to 6 in the second match of the day held today at the Al Habtoor Polo Resort & Club.
Julius Baer and UAE Polo played an exciting match, vital for their chances to qualify to the semifinals.
Both teams knew that victory was the ticket to the following round and patron Mohammed Al Habtoor´s team showed great concentration and teamwork from the very beginning.
A 3 goal gap at half time gave lot´s of confidence to Julius Baer Team, but they knew UAE Polo was going to fight hard to comeback in the match. And so they did. HH Sheika Maitha Al Maktoum´s team put a lot of pressure in the last two chukkers but Julius Baer Team, led by the outstanding ten goaler handicap, Nicolás Pieres, kept a high level and perfect teamwork to achieve the deserved victory by 12 goals to 9 and the ticket to the semifinals of the Julius Baer Gold Cup.
Nicolás Pieres, with 6 goals, was the top scorer of the match.

In the second match of the day, Desert Palm achieved their first victory in the tournament after defeating Wolves by 9 goals to 6.
Both teams played an enjoyable game with patron Tarek Albwardy´s team taking the lead by two goals from the second chukker and keeping the advantage till the very end of the match.
Manuel Crespo (Wolves) was the top scorer of the game with 5 goals.

The Julius Baer Gold Cup will continue tomorrow with the last qualifying matches at the Al Habtoor Polo Resort & Club.
