POLO HALL OF FAME HONORS INDUCTEES FOR 2010

POLO HALL OF FAME HONORS INDUCTEES FOR 2010

Although there was fierce wind and rain pounding the tent just an hour before the event, threatening at one point to take the entire venue with it, on Friday, February 12th, 2010 a record-breaking crowd of 410 people turned out at the Museum of Polo to celebrate and welcome into the Polo Hall of Fame six legends of the sport; super-star of the 20’s and 30’s Lewis Lacey, living legend Julian Hipwood, Iglehart award winners Dave Rizzo and the late “Big Joe” Muldoon along with Horses to Remember, Red Ace and Hector Galindo’s Khaki.

During the reception guests viewed the new exhibits, caught up with old friends and examined the Silent Auction items, oblivious to the chaos outside. Fortunately the worst of the foul weather subsided and the dinner and awards ceremony went on as planned. The annual black tie affair was MC’d by polo player and star of American’s Most Wanted, John Walsh and Steve and Ginny Orthwein were the general Chairmen of the event.

The Museum would like to thank their wonderful sponsors, all of whom were repeat supporters; dual sponsor Marc and Melissa Ganzi and their Grand Champions Polo Club, Bombardier Business Aircraft the longest continuous commercial sponsor, International Polo Club Palm Beach and Mr. and Mrs. I. Thomas Uskup/302 Polo LLC., Roederer Estate who sponsored the champagne and Robert Lipman/Lipman Brothers, Bacardi USA and Grey Goose Vodka for sponsoring wine and spirits for the evening. Special thanks also to Martin Cregg and Chase Design for producing the new exhibits the presentation program for the evening as well as Alex Pacheco for photos for the exhibits and Melinda Brewer for donating her fabulous “Horses to Remember” portraits.
