Guards Polo Club appoints Louisa Dawnay as Events Director
Experienced polo organiser takes up new post at Smith’s Lawn
Guards Polo Club is delighted to announce that Louisa Dawnay has been appointed Events Director at Guards Polo Club. This is a new role which reflects the Club’s continuing commitment to create and develop world-class polo fixtures at Smith’s Lawn and further afield. Louisa, who takes up this post in February, will work closely alongside Chief Executive Neil Hobday and Marketing and Sponsorship Director James Turner to ensure that Guards Polo Club’s fixture list continues to impress sponsors, players and spectators.
On confirming the appointment Neil Hobday said: “Louisa comes to Smith’s Lawn with an impressive polo CV, including extensive experience in both polo management and event organisation. This new role of Event Director has been created as part of a strategic re-organisation of the department and will enable Guards Polo Club to continue to lead its peers in creating polo eventsLive of excellence at both home and abroad.”
Louisa Dawnay added: “I am looking forward to taking up this new role of Events Director at Smith’s Lawn. Guards Polo Club is the most famous club in the world and so the opportunity to join the highly experienced team at Guards Polo Club and add to the Club’s already impressive history is a unique and exciting opportunity for me and one which I cannot wait to begin working on.”
Guards Polo Club will open for the 2013 season on 11 April for chukkas, with matches starting from Saturday 20 April. The Club’s leading high-goal event, the 22-goal Cartier Queen’s Cup, will be played from 21 May – 16 June, while the UK’s leading 15-goal competition, the Al Habtoor Royal Windsor Cup runs from 1 – 23 June. The competitive 8-goal Pommery Archie David Cup will be played from 7 – 30 June, while the Audi International Polo Day reverts back to its later July date in 2013 of Sunday 28 July.
