The United States Polo Association Calls for a Moment of Silence at 3pm Sunday, 2nd March, at Polo Matches Worldwide in Memory of Carlos Gracida
Players, officials and spectators at polo matches around the world are asked to observe a moment of silence on Sunday, March 2, 2014 at 3pm in their local time to honor the memory of Carlos Gracida, one of the greatest players in the history of the sport. Gracida died on February 25 as a result of injuries sustained from a fall during a match in Florida.
“The United States Polo Association is calling upon all who love polo and true sportsmanship to observe the passing of one of the greatest athletes ever to play the sport,” said Peter Rizzo, CEO of the United States Polo Association. “Just before Sunday’s matches begin, let us honor the memory of our friend, teammate, competitor and coach by pausing to reflect on his incomparable skill and success on the field and the exemplary manner in which he lived his life.”
