The Lovelocks Polo Stud Cup
By Victoria Elsbury-Legg
There’s something new on the Argentine polo scene this December in the form of an innovative 8-12 goal tournament which will be played at the El Remanso Polo Club, home to the Hanbury family situated in Lobos, Buenos Aires. From 6th – 14th December 2014 the inaugural ‘Copa Lovelocks Polo Stud’ will be held – a competition featuring teams which must include at least one patron in the line-up.
There is however more to this tournament than initially meets the eye, as the winner will need to make quite a bit more than ‘a space on their mantelpiece’ to accommodate their prizes. Those with their heart set on victory will need at least four loose boxes accessorised with grazing to get the most out of their win.
As Charlie Hanbury explains, ‘We are giving 4 two year old unbroken fillies as the prize. These were bred by us at Lovelocks Polo Stud. It’s a fantastic chance for teams to be able to get hold of our blood lines. We have our first Auction in November 2015 and it’s a great way to show people the kind of products we are producing.’
Everyone is welcome to take part in this new event, so if you fancy the idea of adding the Lovelocks blood line to your string contact polo manager Manuel Fernández Llorente for further details: manuelfll@hotmail.com .
