Following the Finals of the Ambassador Cup, the VR Sports Club, Bangkok will play host to the sixth Lawyers Polo Tournament. This will be the first time the tournament (which runs from 17th – 20th March) will have been played in Thailand.
Founded in 2008 by Eduardo Bérèterbide and Justin Fogarty, The Lawyers Polo Association now has over 350 members from countries as far afield as Argentina, Austria, Malaysia, Switzerland, Venezuela, the UK and the United States. All of the members are lawyers who share a passion for competitive, but sportsmanlike polo on the pitch, combined with fantastic off-pitch social events at stunning locations around the world. Opening with a black tie reception for 300 invited guests on March 16th at Peninsula Bangkok on the shores of the Chao Phraya, the tournament will feature six teams of international polo playing lawyers. Eduardo Bérèterbide, Founder of Lawyers Polo explained the reason behind his chose of location to hold this year’s event:
‘We chose Thailand because it is vibrant and fascinating nation where polo has been present for nearly 100 years and has been flourishing over the last decade. There are records of polo matches being played in Bangkok in the 1920s. Today, thanks to the successful work of the Thailand Polo Association, polo is thriving in Thailand where many important tournaments take place every year. The Lawyers Polo tournament in Bangkok is attracting a large number of players from all over the world. In fact, we are expecting a large turnout of local and international lawyers. The VR Sports Club is stunning and an ideal location for hosting a first class event’
An Awards Ceremony and a closing reception for 500 guests will end the tournament on Saturday 21st March 2015.
