Play opened on 7th August between La Concepcion and St Tropez Polo Team, with Hanspeter Spek’s team, and their ten goal Pieres power, winning 7 v 5.5.  Meeting each other on 12th August, Piaget Ambassadors Gonzalito (La Concepcion) and Facundo Pieres (F Polo Team) took the game to just a goal difference – with Gonzalito finding the all-important winning ninth goal for La Concepcion (9-8).

Eight further league matches followed, resulting in Jonathan Rothermere’s Ferne Park heading into the Finals on 16th August to face La Concepcion who had maintained their winning streak.  Places for subsidiary finalists were decided by a penalty shoot-out on 15th August, resulting in: 1st St Tropez Polo Team, 2nd La Quinta and 3rd F Polo Team.

Sadly rain stopped play in the Subsidiary Finals (between 5th and 6th placed teams), with players calling it a day at F Polo Team 6 v 3.5 Composite Works.  In Sunday’s 11am Subsidiary Finals (between 4th and 3rd placed teams), La Quinta beat St Tropez Polo Team 8-4.  So began the Final of the inaugural Richard Mille Trophy – Cote d’Azur Cup (15-18 goal) at 5pm.  With much strong play from Ferne Park and great goals by Joaquin Pittaluga, at the start of the 3rd chukka they were leading 5-2.  There seemed to be little La Concepcion could do, as by the 5th chukka Ferne Park were 7-6 up – finally finding three further goals they went on to win 10-6.  Most Valuable Player was awarded to Gonzalito Pieres and Best Playing Pony to Carpeta, owned by Joaquin Pittaluga.

Following the Final of the 8-10 goal between Sezz (KALAIDJIAN Shahé (0) JARRIGE Louis (1) ZUBIAURRE Santiago (4) AMADEO Y VIDELA Marcelo (5) and Los Lobos (LE PAGE Sebastian (-1) PODESTA Martin jr (3) PODESTA Martin (4) BENMERGUI Luis (3) – (winners Sezz 10 v 3.5 Los Lobos, MVP Amadeo y Videla and BPP Cigarro, ridden by Santiago Zubiaurre) – players and spectators enjoyed post-match VIP cocktails by chef Jérôme Venturi in the Club Lounge to the tunes of Resident DJ Tony ‘Eden Beach’ Alones.
