Gladiator Polo™

 

Teams Crixus and Spiculus are revving up for Round Five of $250,000 Gladiator Polo™ presented by U.S. Polo Assn. on Thursday, March 16. The event takes place at Equestrian Village of Palm Beach International Equestrian Center (PBIEC), also known as “The Coliseum.” Last week Team Priscus clinched an exciting 13-12 win over Team Crixus in the final moments of play. 

 

The event pits top high-goal U.S. and international polo players against each other in the $33,000 match. The victors take home $24,000 and the opposing team receives $9,000.

Team Crixus returns this Thursday for Round Five of Gladiator Polo™ League presented by U.S. Polo Assn.

 

While general admission is free, an optional dining experience, spectators can watch the game while enjoying a new menu this week: The All-American Barbecue. The view of the competition doesn’t get any better than from the dining tent, where spectators get an up-close-and-personal view of the action. To boost the excitement and make the action easier for spectators to follow, each team wears a distinctive color from head to toe (from the players’ helmets all the way down to the horses’ leg wraps). 

 

 

In the Roman-themed event, Team Crixus will wear black and is sponsored by U.S. Trust Bank of America Private Wealth Management. Team Crixus will feature players Santi Torres (7), Mike Azzaro (9) and Matias Magrini (9), the same group of players who competed in the inaugural Gladiator Polo™ game.

 

Spiculus will wear the color purple. The players competing for Team Spiculus will be Pelon Escapite (7), Mariano Obregon (7), and Sebastian Merlos (9). The team is sponsored by Don Graves and Marshall & Sterling Insurance, Equisport Division.

Mark Bellissimo, Managing Partner of International Equestrian Group (IEG), who organized and hosts the series, welcomed the participation of Teams Crixus and Spiculus.
