Lauren Biddle Memorial Gloves Give Back to Polo Players Support Group |
On October 21, 2018, the polo community lost a loving and talented young woman due to a tragic accident while in New Zealand where she was working and playing polo. Lauren Biddle had a shining spirit that touched many lives across the polo and hunter/jumper communities. Fun-loving and advantageous by nature, Biddle was often seen helping others around the barn or on the field with a smile on her face.
To remember her spirit, Hook Polo has designed a pair of polo gloves with her initials on them. With every pair of gloves purchased during the month of November, $10 will be donated to a GoFundMe account in Lauren’s name. All donations will be donated equally to the Polo Players Support Group and the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust.
“With heavy hearts the PPSG is grateful to Hook Polo for sharing the proceeds from the Lauren Biddle Memorial Gloves,” said Dave Offen, president and co-founder of the Polo Players Support Group. “Remembering Lauren this way will help the PPSG to continue its mission of providing financial support to seriously injured or ill polo players and grooms.”
Daughter of polo players Tommy Biddle and Yvette Biddle, Lauren was a true horsewoman and jack-of-all-trades around the barn. As an avid polo player as well as jumper rider, Lauren is no exception to experiencing the difficulties of life in the horse community. Her father was a recipient of a financial grant from the PPSG after a shoulder injury that left him unable to play for several months. Lauren often expressed the close relationship she had with her father and would appreciate the efforts of Hook Polo to give back to a cause that helped him.
“Hook Polo’s Lauren Biddle Memorial Gloves were produced at the request of her friends and family in order to honor and remember Lauren and to raise funds for two carefully selected charities,” said Robert Cameron, founder and director of Hook Polo. “With these gloves, we hope to celebrate her memory, love of life and passion for polo.”
