Argentina Polo Tour at El Remanso – Sponsored by Patio Bullrich
This week saw the start of the Argentina Polo Tour, an event conceived by Adolfo Cambiaso and Gonzalo Pieres, that consists of some six weeks of 16-22 goal polo, played on the best pitches Argentina has to offer, from Pilar to Palermo. Now in its fifth year, the tour started with the Copa Municipalidad de Lobos and the Copa Confiar, at the grounds of El Remanso, near Lobos.
Six teams entered the first stage of the tour, with Claremont and El Remanso contesting the final, the Copa Municipalidad de Lobos.
After just two chukkas, El Remanso looked as though they would be the eventual winners, with Pelon Stirling in control of the game. However, backhand passes by both of the Cudmores lead to Huidobro closing the gap to trail 4-5 by the end of the second chukka. From there, the tables turned and Claremont took the initiative with both Garraham and Huidobro playing superbly, to win 13-10.
In the subsidiary final, the Copa Confiar, La Alegria were defeated 3-10 by El Quemao.
The Argentina Polo Tour continues on Wednesday with the start of another 16 goal tournament held this time at the grounds of the Argentine Polo Association
