Next Generation 11 – 9 Segavas (rec 1 goal) on The Queen’s Ground
There was just one game today in the Cartier Queen’s Cup, played on The Queen’s Ground, but it was not a match to be missed. Jean Francois Decaux’s Next Generation, who won their first game convincingly on Friday, continued that winning form today, heading up League Two with two wins out of two. However Next Generation’s opponents in this match, Segavas, a new team to the high-goal, managed to keep Next Generation in general – and the Cambiasos in particular – at bay for the first two chukkas. This is no mean feat as Poroto Cambiaso is playing some incredible polo.
That said, Segavas had made Park Place work hard for victory last week and so we knew this team was not likely to be star struck. However the third chukka saw Next Generation confirm their superiority. Not only did Segavas fail to score but Next Generation fired through five goals. When playing against Adolfo Cambiaso – senior or junior – it is often difficult to get back from such a wide goal difference. This was very much the case here today. Segavas kept on fighting, including preventing Next Generation from scoring in the fifth but this team’s impressive strike rate in that all-important third chukka allowed Next Generation to maintain their two-goal advantage until the final whistle and so win the game.
