On Wednesday 4/12 on field 1, La Dolfina Saudi played Ellerstina UAE Yellow Rose, for the pass to the final and the Imperial Cup. that was at stake in this match.
The result was 15-12 in favor of the Cañuelas team, which thus achieved the pass to the decisive match of the tournament, where they will face La Natividad, the defending champion, next Sunday 8/12.
Despite the 11 goals scored by Sapo Caset – all with stopped balls – Grl. Rodríguez’s team struggled to create play and that is reflected in the fact that they only scored one goal from the field in the eight chukkers that the match lasted. Likewise, La Dolfina did not play its best game either and after a good start, it was down on the scoreboard from the fourth quarter and until the middle of the sixth, where it took the reins of the game, turned the result around and took a fair victory that deposited it again in the grand final of the tournament.
TRIBUTES FROM THE AAP
The Argentine Polo Association paid tribute to several people who joined forces to make polo in our country bigger every day…
In order to be able to cope with the large number of matches organized annually by the AAP, 10 years ago the Board of Directors led by Frankie Dorignac had the great idea of buying several hectares from Pilará and that the “Alfredo Lalor” property goes from having 7 fields to the 11 we have today. in addition to having a new entrance through Route 34. For this reason, Carlos Miguens, one of the architects of the purchase of those hectares, was honored and thanked.
It is also very important to always be at the scene of the events, therefore, the Board of Directors chaired by Gonzalo Tanoira had the brilliant idea of building the offices of the AAP in the Argentine Polo Field, with the consent of the Directorate of Mounting and Veterinary, to whom the AAP is deeply grateful. 2024 marked the 20th anniversary of the construction of the offices, a task that was led by Architect Luisa Miguens, who was also honored.
To make polo bigger, you have to tell each of the stories, as ESPN does during matches. That is why in this case we pay tribute to one of the most important polo journalists in the world, the beloved “Chochán” Martin Garrahan, who celebrates 30 years of his first polo broadcast on ESPN.
And finally, to practice this sport, in addition to talent and personal effort, you need to play with the best horses in the world. And 2024 marks the 40th anniversary of the creation of the Argentine Polo Breed and the Argentine Association of Polo Horse Breeders. That is why the AAP thanks and pays tribute to its president, Santiago Ballester for the work of the AACCP in these first 40 years.
10 years of Pilar’s expansion, 20 of the offices in Palermo, 30 of Martín in ESPN commenting Polo and 40 of the AACCP… 100 years of Polo, just in the year that marks the centenary of the first Olympic gold medal won by our country and brought by our sport.
And to close the day, the AAP celebrates perseverance and love for the jersey, and for this reason it paid tribute to Gonzalito Pieres, who this year equaled the record of the remembered Juan Carlitos Harriott by playing his 26th consecutive Open with the Ellerstina team.
Polo, the sport in which we Argentines can say, without fear of being wrong, that we are the best in the world.
