Trenque Lauquen won for the fifth time the Final Round of the National Intercircuit Championship with Handicap for the Argentine Republic Cup!
On field 1 of the Alfredo Lalor Venue in Pilar, Trenque Lauquen La Fe beat La Natividad 19 to 18, in extra chukker, with a Golden goal by Fran Elizalde -the MVP of the match-; and in this way, despite giving up a 6-goal advantage due to their greater team valuation, they won the Copa República Argentina after 29 years of drought.
With an impressive closing of the team, in which Fran Elizalde stood out, author of 7 of the last 8 goals of his team, TL took the victory after turning around a score that was adverse to them throughout the match. To do this, they needed to achieve a clear 11-5 in the second half of the game, to take the game to extra time, where after Pedrito Chavanne could not score the winning goal for La Natividad, it was again Fran Elizalde who scored a 30-yard penalty at 1.52m. of the extra chukker to give the title to Trenque Lauquen La Fe.
THE NUMBERS OF THE FINAL
Trenque Lauquen LF won its fifth title in the contest after having won in 1952, 55, 66 and 95.
Meanwhile, La Natividad could not obtain the second trophy in the tournament, after having won it for the only time in 2016.
On the individual side, Hilario Ulloa (2008, La Mariana Villa Real), Francisco Elizalde (2015, La Mamcha) and Juan Jauretche (2011, La Estrella Enigma) won their second title; while Louis Devaleix was crowned with glory for the first time. Congratulations, champions!
We remember that the top winners of the Copa República Argentina are Coronel Suárez -despite the fact that he has not won the trophy since 2003-, with 16 titles; and Juan José Brané, with 5 (1986, 92, 99, 00 and 02).

Meanwhile, the final for the subsidiary Diario La Nación was played on Monday 10/12, also at the Alfredo Lalor Headquarters in Pilar. The trophy was in the hands of El Silencio, who beat La Chavita 14-12, despite having conceded two handicap goals.
