The Duke of Cambridge to take part in Piaget Sponsored Charity Polo Match at the Gloucestershire Festival of Polo
Piaget Announces Title Sponsorship of the Young England Squad
The Duke of Cambridge took part in the Maserati Royal Charity Polo Trophy at Beaufort Polo Club, Gloucestershire on Saturday 18 June.
The charity match will help raise funds and awareness for three charities that The Duke and Prince Harry support as Patrons: The Welsh Rugby Charitable Trust and the England and Wales Mountain Rescue, whose Patron is The Duke of Cambridge; and The Household Cavalry Foundation, whose Patron is Prince Harry.
The charity match is part of the Gloucestershire Festival of Polo, hosted by Beaufort Polo Club from 18 – 19 June. On Saturday 18th June honours were contested between sponsors Team Piaget and Team Maserati. Playing for Team Piaget are Piaget Ambassador, Gonzalito Pieres (10) and Britain’s, Malcolm Borwick (6).
This match is part of a series of charitable polo matches The Duke of Cambridge and Prince Harry will play this summer. The Duke of Cambridge and Prince Harry have been playing polo in support of their charities since 2007 and have continued each year since, raising over £9.5 million for charitable causes to date, including money raised from the Sentebale Polo Cup. This summer’s matches will see this total pass the £10 million mark.
In 2015, The Duke and Prince Harry played in eight matches, which raised over £800,000 benefitting 17 organisations. They hope to raise a similar amount this year.
To further help the Prince’s get closer to reaching this milestone mark, Piaget is donating a Piaget Polo Forty Five watch to be auctioned before the match.
The 18th June also marks the debut of the Piaget Young England team who will be battling it out against Ireland.
In order to nurture and support emerging talent in Polo, Piaget has collaborated for the third year running with the Hurlingham Polo Association, (HPA), to support the next generation of England players coming up through the sport.
