Gay Polo League Announces Venue Change for Upcoming Tournament in England
The Gay Polo League (GPL) would like to announce a change in venue for the upcoming tournament across the pond. Originally slated to be held at the Royal County of Berkshire Polo Club, the tournament has relocated to the beautiful Zacara Polo Club, located at Shurlock Row, Reading RG10 OPP. Four teams consisting of 12 GPL players from around the world are eager to make the trek to England, and extend an invitation to the public to join them Saturday, September 8, 2018, for two afternoon polo matches. The matches will begin at 3:00 p.m. and 4:30 p.m., and admission is free, so join the fun and cheer on your favorite teams!
“We are so appreciative of Lyndon Lea, owner of Zacara, for extending his hospitality and allowing GPL to play its first tournament in England at his beautiful facility,” said Chip McKenney, President and CEO of GPL. “Zacara’s fields are in fantastic shape and many high-goal matches are played there every season. We are thrilled to be in such good company and hope that friends, family and the community will join us on this exciting day!”
A privately-owned polo club located just west of London, Zacara is a stunning high-goal polo yard in Berkshire, England, the heart of polo country. Owned by polo patron Lyndon Lea, Zacara is one of the most successful polo teams of recent times, winning the U.S. Open in 2013 and the Cartier Queen’s Cup in 2014 amongst other prestigious titles. GPL is delighted to announce these exclusive polo grounds, amongst the best in the U.K, will be the location for the Inaugural GPL Polo Tournament this September. In addition to the world-class venue, Zacara has also lined up a top-notch roster of polo professionals to quarterback each of the four GPL teams.
