Wins for Talandracas and Dubai in the Gold Cup at Cowdray Park Polo Club on Thursday 4th July see the competition heating up as the league stages begin to wind up.
Match 1
A win for Dubai in the first match of the day gives us another Quarter finalist. After defeating Marques de Riscal in a fairly low scoring event, Dubai join La Dolfina Great Oaks, taking the second confirmed spot in the Quarters thanks to 3 undefeated outings. Dubai controlled the match from the off and the Spanish side were unable to keep up or compete, Dubai pulling away on the scoreboard, eventually doubling their opponents score as they thwarted any attacking attempt. Dubai have 1 more league stage match to go, but knowing they are through already will give them some respite before what we are sure will be some thrilling knock out stages commencing next week.

Match 2
With both sides needing the win here after 1-1 results so far, there was all to play for in the second match of the day. It was a tightly contested match and the end result was anyone’s guess as the action got underway. The lead swapped throughout but Ferne Park were unable to maintain the momentum that saw them score 5 in the 3rd chukka and take a 2 goal lead going into halftime. A failure to convert in the last chukka at all while Talandracas scored twice meant the dreams of moving into the next stage for Ferne Park were dashed while Talandracas remain in with a shot having won 2 and lost just 1. Talandracas play Valhalla on the 7th of July and need a win if they want to build on their Queen’s Cup success.
