Gold Cup – Day 12

Close, tough matches on Saturday 6th July entertained the crowds at Cowdray Park Polo as the weekend of Gold Cup action continued with wins for La Magdeleine and King Power.

Match 1

La Magdeleine won against King Power2

La Magdeleine won against King Power3

In the first match up of the day it was dynamic teamwork that won out, Garese’s La Magdeleine side seemed to be in perfect sync as they took on the formidable King Power team and this cohesive team strategy seemed to be the key as they rode to a 13-11 win. King power got off to an early lead and heading into halftime 4 goals up it seemed like a done deal, but La Madeleine’s consistent attacking strategy won out and they really came together in the second half, slotting home field goals to overtake King Power in the penultimate chukka and hold on to that lead until the final whistle.

Match 2
Sujan Indian Tigers won against Bangash 2
Sujan Indian Tigers won against Bangash 3

Flashes of brilliance from Bangash were not enough to secure them the victory today as Jaisal Singh’s Sujan Tigers team scored 8 goals to their 6 in this relatively low scoring game. Smart plays and tough polo from both sides meant a good show but Bangash were unable to keep up with the consistent steals and quick attacks from Zubiaurre which resulted in turnovers and field goals and eventually the Tigers’ first win of the tournament.
