Harry East Memorial 2013

Harry East Memorial 2013

Long Beach/ Florado had smooth sailing on their way to the Harry East Memorial 8 goal championship, winning all their games in bracket play and conquering Restoration Hardware 12-10 in the final.

LB/ Florado started the game with two goals on handicap and quickly added three more, jumping out to a huge 5-0 lead over Restoration Hardware. RH countered with two goals at the end of the chukker from Santiago von Wernich, and Santi Tahier added two more in the 2nd to help RH get back into contention.

At the start of the 3rd chukker, 14 year old Charlie Walker made a great coast to coast run to give the momentum back to LB/ Florado, and the boys in blue proceeded to go on a 4-1 run, getting two more goals from Santi Wulff and another from Patrick Uretz. Ben Soleimani scored for RH at the end of the 3rd to stop the bleeding for RH, making the score 9-5 in favor of Long Beach/ Florado at halftime.

LB/ Florado scored three more goals after halftime ton one from RH, and the strong defense of Coloradoan Grant Mayer and Patrick Uretz shut down the normally potent RH offense until midway through the 5th chukker. In the 5th, RH finally got some momentum going, with goals coming from Tahier and two goals from Santi von Wernich on a handy bay gelding.  RH looked like they were headed for a comeback, but two missed penalty conversions in the 6th chukker cost them dearly and Long Beach/ Florado held on for the 12-10 win

MVP was Santiago Wulff, who scored 4 goals and organized great team play for LB/ Florado

BPP selection was “Chisparita” for Santiago von Wernich

The winner of the round robin consolation was Team KIG, led by Bash Kazi
