On Wednesday 9/24, at the Alfredo Lalor venue that the AAP began the 132nd Hurlingham Club Open, in which the traditional Ayrshire Cup and the Drysdale Subsidiary are at stake.
In the first match of the tournament, played on field 6 in Pilar, La Natividad La Dolfina, with its 40 handicap goals, beat La Hache Cría & Polo by 29 to 4 and qualified for the first semifinal. Let’s remember that this tournament kicks off the Triple Crown and is played with direct elimination, starting in the Quarterfinals. In this way, the losing team will continue its path in the “semis”, but through the Drysdale Subsidiary.
The debut of the Cambiaso-Castagnola family team could not have been better. With the experience of Adolfito and the explosion of his son and nephews, he achieved a huge victory that came close to the maximum that there was in the Palermo Open (La Espadaña 30, Cnl. Suárez II 4 in 1988).
With the goal distributed between the three youngsters, the fight was absolutely uneven against an LH Cría & Polo that had good passages at times, but could never even the actions.
Teams and progression:
La Natividad La Dolfina: Camilo Castagnola 10 (11 goals, two from penalties and one from Penalty 1), Adolfo Cambiaso (n) 10 (9), Bartolomé Castagnola (h) 10 (7) and Adolfo Cambiaso (h) 10 (2, one from Penalty 1). Total: 40.
La Hache Cría y Polo: Bautista Bayugar 8 (1), Carlos M. Ulloa 8 (1), Joaquín Pittaluga 8 (1 penalty) and Ignacio Laprida 8 (1). Total: 32.
La Natividad La Dolfina: 5-0, 8-1, 11-2, 13-2, 17-3, 20-4, 25-4 and 29-4.
Judges: Gastón Lucero and Rafael Silva. Referee: Gonzalo López Vargas.
Second Match
On Field 2 of the Alfredo Lalor headquarters that the AAP owns in Pilar, the second Quarterfinal match of the 132nd Hurlingham Club Open was played on Wednesday 9/24, in which the traditional Ayrshire Cup and the Drysdale Subsidiary are at stake.
Ellerstina Indios Chapaleufú Vista beat Los Machitos El Refugio by 13 to 6 and in this way will face La Natividad La Dolfina, next Saturday 27/9 in the first semifinal of the tournament. On the other hand, LM El Refugio will play the same instance but from the Drysdale Subsidiary against La Hache Cría & Polo.
The match of the team made up of the Pieres brothers and the Heguy cousins showed that it is going to be a difficult team for anyone. With each player in his logical position, the team that wore black took a big advantage in the first four chukkers, with a very lucid Facu Pieres as a striker and the good defense of his wickets of Cruz Heguy.
Although the second half of the match was more even, Los Machitos El Refugio, who had “Torito” Ruiz as their best value on the day, was never close to getting closer on the scoreboard.
Teams and progression:
Ellerstina Chapaleufú Indians View: Facundo Pieres 10 (7 goals, three penalties), Antonio Heguy 8 (2) (injured, at the beginning of the fifth chukker he was replaced by Nicolás Pieres 8 -1-), Gonzalo Pieres (h) 9 (1) and Cruz Heguy 9 (2). Total: 36.
Los Machitos El Refugio: Victorino Ruiz Jorba 8 (5, three penalties), Alfredo Bigatti 8, Diego Cavanagh 8 and Teodoro Lacau 8 (1). Total: 32.
