WELLINGTON, Fla. – Jan. 22, 2016 – Audi/Millarville pulled out a much needed win in the Joe Barry Cup, defeating Orchard Hill 11-9 at the International Polo Club Palm Beach. Audi/Millarville patron Grant Ganzi noted that a loss would have meant elimination. “We knew we had to win this game,” he said. “We had a bad game last week, and we put that behind us and we came out today. It was a different game with a different game plan, and we executed it just the way we wanted to.”

The competition was fierce with classic polo action, a true running game. Orchard Hill’s Peke Gonzalez scored within the first minute of the game, but that was the last time they held the lead. A minute later Fred Mannix notched one for Audi, and from then on Orchard Hill played catch-up. At the end of the fifth chukker Audi led by four, and it was starting to look like “game over,” but Orchard Hill rallied in the sixth to tighten the gap to two. All four Audi players scored, with Nic Roldan chalking up five. “Today was a great, great team effort by everyone, from the 1 to the 4,” said Roldan. “Grant played lights out and did so much for the team putting pressure on everyone. Julian was a machine up front. Freddie and I decided to play a lot closer and become more aggressive and fierce, and it worked out in the end. Now we’re on to the next one.”
