SAN ROQUE, Friday, August 2, 2024 – There were 6 high-flying chukkers that took place this year.
Friday on court number 4 of Ayala Sede Los Pinos, where MB Polo and Calatagan made their
debut in the Terralpa High Handicap Silver Cup, second stop of the 53rd International Tournament of
Polo Andalucía. It was the chance to see MB Polo, finalist of the Gold Cup in Alto
Handicap in 2023, and to see Calatagan, recent winner of the Bronze Cup again,
Sotogrande.
In short, the protagonists held absolutely nothing back in a match that was
witnessed by a very good audience, who did not want to miss the debut in the contest of
players such as Poroto Cambiaso, on his return to Sotogrande after 3 years, Pablo Mac
Donough or Facundo Pieres. Calatagan’s proposal started strong, taking a 2-0 lead, but MB
Polo quickly managed to equalize the actions at the end of the initial chukker. From then on, it was seen
the best of the Cambiaso-Mac Donough combination, although at all times Martín’s
Romualdez remained on the lookout. Despite the latter, MB Polo found his best polo shirt again
in the fifth chukker, achieving a difference of 3 goals. And, on the closing of the match, Poroto
Cambiaso crowned his team’s victory with the last of his 9 conquests.
The action for the Terralpa Silver Cup will resume this Saturday at Ayala Sede Los Pinos with two
matches corresponding to the Medium Handicap.
The 53rd Andalusia International Polo Tournament takes place between the 3 playing fields of Ayala Polo
Club and the 4 that Ayala owns Los Pinos Headquarters, and is disputed in 3 polo categories: High Handicap
(20-22 Goals), Medium Handicap (12-14 Goals) and Low Handicap (6-8 Goals).
