NESPRESSO 40 Goal Challenge Features |
The winter high-goal season in Wellington is teeming with talent and polo super-stars with 20 and 26 goal polo regularly played on the fields of International Polo Club Palm Beach. But on Saturday, February 14, this Valentine’s Day, eight of the world’s best polo players will graciously donate their time and expertise to play in the Nespresso 40 Goal Challenge. That’s right–40 goal! Polo’s brightest stars such as Adolfo Cambiaso, Facundo Pieres and Polito Pieres will all play together in a fabulous display of polo that is the highest level played anywhere in the world. The 40-goal tournament will be “like watching an NHL or NBA all-star game,” said event organizer Dave Offen. “It’s an amazing display of skill and teamwork.” The game, accompanied by a silent auction and dinner, will benefit the Polo Players Support Group (PPSG), an organization established to provide financial assistance to seriously injured or ill polo players, grooms and other members of the sport. Due to events like the Nespresso 40 Goal Challenge, the PPSG has dispersed over $1.6 million since it’s inception in 2002. This year’s line-up will feature the EFG Bank team, pitted against the defending champion Equus & Co.
