City & Country are new sponsors of the British Ladies Polo Championship at Cowdray Park
City & Country, the market leading heritage developer in the UK, has become the new sponsor of the British Ladies Polo Championship at Cowdray Park. The City & Country British Ladies Polo Championship opened on 8th July, with six teams taking part. Matches continue on Monday 11th, Tuesday 12th, Thursday 14th and Friday 15th July with the Final of The City & Country British Ladies Open Championship taking place on Saturday 16th July.
Winners of the 2015 British Ladies Polo Championship, Huntington House/Apes Hill, return to defend the title in 2016 against Cowdray Vikings, Supernova, Jaeger-LeCoultre, Coombe Place and DOT Print in what is likely to be a hard-fought contest with most of the highest handicapped lady players in the UK in action. Since a new handicapping system was introduced in 2015 giving women players separate handicaps from the men, women’s polo has continued to gain in both stature and popularity.
With a magnificent silver salver ready to be presented to the winning side by City & Country, the winning team and runners up will receive stunning individual prizes from Aspinal of London, the luxury leather goods company whose showroom is based at Fernhurst. Additional prizes will be given by Hudson & Colt, who make bespoke Cowdray Park Polo Club clothing.
City & Country has over 50 years’ experience in the acquisition, restoration and conversion of historic and listed buildings, creating outstanding residential and commercial properties. The company is responsible for the stunning restoration of the Grade II Listed King Edward VII former sanatorium on the outskirts of Midhurst, less than three miles from Cowdray Park Polo Club. More than 100 years after King Edward officially opened the hospital, the Estate is now a vibrant community of outstanding country apartments. The stunning homes that have been beautifully crafted from the original buildings fully exploit the Estate’s magnificent natural setting, which includes Gertrude Jekyll gardens, with specific attention paid to the availability of natural light and far-reaching views. Exclusive facilities that will soon be available to residents include a concierge, swimming pool, hot tub and sauna, gym, and access to communal areas within the historic building. Prices start from £222,500.
Entry to matches in the City & Country British Ladies Polo Championship taking place at Cowdray Park Polo Club’s Ambersham complex is £5 per adult with free parking. Cowdray Park Polo Club offers a warm welcome to all visitors. For further information visit www.cowdraypolo.co.uk.
