Pakistan – “Polo in Pink”

Lahore Polo Club has been holding “Polo in Pink” matches for the last ten years, very successfully and with a lot of fanfare. This year there were 16 teams in this tournament with a lady player in each team. Participating ladies were from Italy, Mexico, Argentina, UK, Iran Norway, Ireland, New Zealand and Pakistan.

It was heartening to see six (6) participants from UK alone in a total contingent of seventeen (17) players. It was inspiring to see the players from around the globe coming together in support of such a noble cause, bringing attention and solidarity to an important health issue. Such events draw the government’s attention to support the cancer awareness schemes, especially when also participated by Lady Polo players from different countries.

It not only breaks traditional barriers but also encourages their wider involvement in sports, symbolising progress and inclusivity in both health and athletic arenas. Such events’ impact goes beyond sports by fostering community spirit and shared responsibility towards health issues.

Established in 1886, Lahore Polo Club is one of the oldest clubs in the world. The land was donated by Surgeon Major Perry, a British Army Officer. There are three full size ground, with a club house, 365 stables , 100 rooms for the grooms, arena polo facility, ridding school and 4 restaurants. The Club has been holding very old and prestigious tournaments such as the Punjab Cub, which is more than a hundred  years old and the Quaid-e-Azam Gold Cup, which is sixty seven years old.
