The Polo French Open: Players in Great Shape!
Players and teams in fine form are gathering this week-end in Chantilly for the last big tournament of the European season: the French Open.
The players come from all over Europe where they have done particularly well in various tournaments in Germany, Spain, Switzerland and France. The Quinta, for example, which will dispute its title in Chantilly, won last Sunday the Open du Soleil in Saint-Tropez, headed by Dario Musso – Captain, handicap 7. Sainte-Mesme, the 2014 finalist, did very well during the Spanish season in Sotogrande, where it won the Gold Cup (medium-goal). The club currently has two teams in Chantilly: Team N.1, composed of French players only – Clément Delfosse and Brieuc Rigaux, handicap 5 (back from Switzerland where he won the Veytay Polo Masters), Robert Strom, handicap 4, aside his father and Captain – Birger Strom. Team 2 includes the third handicap 5 French player, Pierre Henri Ngoumou, who won last Sunday the Gold Cup in Deauville. The Argentinian player Ramiro Zavaleta was also part of the winning team; we will be seeing him again within the Ghantoot Racing Polo Club team, aside European N.1, the British player Luke Tomlinson (h7). The finalist team of the Gold Cup – Marquard Media, will also take part in the French Open with the brilliant Martin Aguerre (h6) who will be striving for victory. The Germans from Tom Tailor will also be playing in Chantilly, following their triumph last week-end in the biggest German tournament – the Berlin Maifeld Cup. Uwe Schröder, Captain of the team, has selected one of the three greatest South African players, the spectacular Chris McKenzie (h6). To summarize, the 2015 French Open will take place with a Grand Cru! In all, seven teams representing six nations. The French Open will kick off with an exhibition match suggested by the official timekeeper of the Chantilly Polo Club, RICHARD MILLE. Richard MILLE will be showcasing this week-end a fantastic collection of vintage cars in a unique event entitled « Arts et élégance » (Art & Elegance).
