Palm Beach Illustrated/Technogym knew they had their work cut out for them if they were going to ride home with the Joe Barry trophy. The last time the young, talented team faced off against venerable Villa del Lago in the 20-goal tournament, they lost by a single goal. But this time, they managed the win, 14-13.
Facundo Obregon was named MVP while Hilario Ulloa’s Nobel was Best Playing Pony.

United States Polo Association

The United States Polo Association (USPA) Intercollegiate Team traveled across the pond to compete in the Schools & Universities Polo Association (SUPA) Polistas International Challenge against the SUPA Britain International Team and the SUPA team from Ireland at the Rugby Polo Club in Dunchurch, U.K. See who represented the U.S. oversees.

In Sunday’s Ylvisaker Cup semifinals, Valiente defeated Palm Beach Illustrated/Technogym 13-10 in a continuation game at Valiente, and Orchard Hill snatched a 4-3 overtime victory from Dubai. When Valiente and Orchard Hill meet in the final, it’s going to be a bit of déjà vu for them. The two teams ended the 2015 Florida High-Goal Season battling it out with slightly different lineups for the U.S. Open Polo Championship®, which Valiente won.

Time is running out to make reservations for one of the most sensational events of the polo season, the tailgate competition at the 7th Annual International Gay Polo Tournament (GPL). This extraordinary contest takes place Saturday, April 2at the world renowned International Polo Club Palm Beach (IPC) and promises to be bigger and better than ever. In 2015, the Best in Show winner featured Gert’s Salon with Gert, a well-known social event personality in Los Angeles, and her bevy of hair stylists working their “magic” on customers.

The Silver Cup Banco del Progreso American Express, second of four Polo Challenge 2016 tournaments, came to an end as Lechuza claimed another title over Agualinda, 7-6. The final was streamed on ESPN–a first in the Dominican Republic. Jose Donoso was named MVP of the final; Pelon Stirling’s mare Zaira was chosen as Best Playing Pony.Read more.

The Nespresso 40 Goal Challenge exhibition match and fundraising dinner was a resounding success on Saturday, February 13. Featuring eight of the world’s highest ranked 10-goal polo players, defending champions Equus & Co. (Adolfo Cambiaso, Hilario Ulloa, Polito Pieres and Miguel Novillo Astrada) defeated the EFG Bank team (Facundo Pieres, Gonzalo Pieres, Sapo Caset, and Mariano Aguerre) 13-9. The event raised more than $350,000 for the Polo Players Support Group.

Since 1984 the Costa Careyes Polo Club has traditionally hosted a tournament in celebration of the Chinese New Year. This year was the Year of the Monkey. The weather was picture perfect at the private, gated resort of Careyes, located on the Pacific Ocean. Four teams with players from Argentina, USA, Spain, Italy, Portugal and Mexico vied for the championship. Special guest for the tournament and grand celebration was Emanuele Filiberto di Savoia, Prince of Piedmonte and Venice with a historic relationship with Scappino, a men’s clothier since the 1930s.
