Lechuza Caracas winners of the Maserati High Goal Silver Cup

 

Lechuza Caracas won the Maserati Silver Cup after defeating Dos Lunas A&G Banca Privada in the final by 10 goals to 8 and claims the second trophy of the 46th International Polo Tournament organized by Santa María Polo Club.

 

A well-deserved title for the team made up by Víctor Vargas, James Harper, David Stirling (h) and Juan Martin Nero who had a brilliant performance throughout the tournament and certified it today, in the final, with an undisputed victory. Dos Lunas A & G Private Banking fought hard till the end but couldn´t bend Lechuza Caracas. Victor Vargas was the MVP while Marquita, the mare played by Juan Martín Nero in the third and sixth chukker, was the Best Playing Pony of the final.

“The truth is that it was a tough match and we knew it before the game, because Dos Lunas is a really tough team that qualified to the final after playing a great semifinal against Ayala. We had a good performance, made a good difference in the score in clue moments of the match, and despite they made a great comeback we achieved to handle the situation to win the game with no surprises. We are very happy to win the Silver Cup and very confident to face what is coming”.

 

Santa María Polo Club Gold Cup 

 

Ayala Polo Team and Dubai, the defending champion, will open tomorrow from 7 pm at Los Pinos fields the Santa María Polo Club Gold Cup. The Aerolíneas Argentinas Gold Cup of the Medium Goal will also begin tomorrow with two matches at Los Pinos. From 5 pm, Sainte Mesme will play against Bardon followed by Twenty 20 vs Royal Salute. 

 

La Mangosta wins the Isolas 1892 Low Goal Silver Cup 

 

La Mangosta defeated Ghabilian Guards in the final by a tight 13.5 goals to 13 to win the Isolas 1892 Low Goal Silver Cup. The match, held at the main field of Puente de Hierro, was followed by a huge crowd that enjoyed until the last second of the exciting match. Diogo Gallego, from Ghabilian Guards team, was named the MVP of the final and Estrellita, owned by Diogo Gallego, was the Best Playing Pony of the final. Sardañola took the Subsidiary Cup after defeating Don Carlos by 8 goals to 7.5 in another attractive match.

 

In this 46th edition of the Tournament more than 21 teams are taking part of the competition, with a large number of elite players, including four of the top 10 players in world polo ranking: Facundo Pieres, who will play with Ayala Polo Team; Juan Martín Nero (Lechuza Caracas) and Pablo MacDonough, who will stand up for Brunei and Dubai Polo Teams, and the Uruguayan David Stirling (Lechuza).  

 

Besides polo matches, attendance, that´s free during almost all the season matches, has many leisure activities available: a varied gastronomy, Shopping Village, children’s area, bars, After Polo night parties.
