THE HOTTEST ANGLO-AMERICAN BATTLE SINCE THE BOSTON TEA PARTY

THE HOTTEST ANGLO-AMERICAN BATTLE SINCE THE BOSTON TEA PARTY

England and USA polo captains prepare for this summer’s flagship Audi International: the Westchester Cup

The temperature is set to rise further on an already sun-drenched summer, as the genteel lawns of Windsor become a white-hot battleground where England take on the USA for polo’s oldest and grandest prize: the Westchester Cup as part of the Audi International.

England captain Luke Tomlinson met his American counterpart Nic Roldan ahead of the big showdown, which will be held at Guards Polo Club, Windsor Great Park on July 28.

The encounter is certain to be no picnic. The Americans will be looking to win back a trophy that has been in English hands for 16 years, while England – who has been supported by Audi since 2005 – is determined to make it three in a row, having won the last two meetings, in Florida in 2009 and at Guards back in 1997. But while the recent weight of history supports England, the USA enjoys a 10-6 overall lead in the series.

The Westchester Cup is an integral part of 2013’s sizzling summer of world-class sport which has also featured Wimbledon, the Ashes, the Open Golf, and the London 2012 Anniversary Games.

The Audi International is a public event – in the past, the ‘highlight’ of the polo season has attracted large crowds of around 20,000 spectators.  For grandstand tickets, hospitality or Boujis after party tickets, please contact:
