3:00PM King Power 10 v 8 VPS Healthcare Sifani – Ashton Silver Cup – Ambersham 1

It was a different King Power team line up (Laura Ormerod, Alejandro Muzzio, Jaime Huidobro and Santiago de Estrada) that rode onto Ambersham one to face VPS Healthcare Sifani (Hilai Noordeen, Max Charlton, Agustin Merlos and Malcom Borwick) for a match to decide the winners of the Ashton Silver Cup (named after Bob Ashton – a friend of Lord Cowdray’s who helped him and the British Polo Association re-establish the game in England in the post war years).

By the end of chukka two it was King Power who had found both the goals, with VPS Healthcare Sifani still to score.  Chukka three opened with a goal by Max Charlton and headed into halftime at King Power 3 v 2 VPS Healthcare Sifani. In what was a very gentlemanly game of polo (albeit with a lady player on the pitch, and only the second lady to have played in this season’s Jaeger-LeCoultre Gold Cup – Stephanie Haverhals substituted for Hilai Noordeen for the opening chukka of their match on 25th June).

With all the fives on the board at the start of chukka five, play was paused for an injured Agustin Merlos to be replaced by his brother Pite.  Following goals by Laura Ormerod, Malcolm Borwick and Hilai Noordeen on a grey pony in chukka six, the game ended with a win for King Power 10 v 8 VPS Healthcare Sifani.
