Lago/Casablanca withdraw from Bobby Barry Cup semifinals
By Alex Webbe
Villa del Lago/Casablanca (Jim Zenni, Agustin Obregon,
Polito Pieres and Inaki Laprida) and Palm Beach Illustrated (Jared Zenni,
Facundo Obregon, Magoo Laprida and Tommy Collingwood) have withdrawn from the
semifinals of the Bobby Barry Cup allowing the next two teams in order and from
that bracket, to assume positions in the subsidiary, the Bobby Barry Cup. The Bobby Barry Cup semifinals (a subsidiary
of the Joe Barry Memorial Cup) will get started at 10am with Flight Options
(Melissa Ganzi, Fred Mannix, Miguel Astrada and Juan Bollini) battling El
Cabure (Federico Virasoro, Carlucho Arellano, Agustin Merlos and Stevie
Orthwein).
Additionally, Audi (Marc
Ganzi, Carlitos Gracida, Nic Roldan and Nico Pieres) requested a time change,
moving their match against Orchard Hill (Steve Van Andel, Lucas Criado, Facundo
Pieres and Marcos Alberdi) from 10AM to 1PM in the Bobby Barry Cup semifinals.
Lechuza Caracas (Victor Vargas, Mariano Gracida, Pablo
MacDonough and Nico Espain) and Faraway (Hutton Goodman, Martin Pepa, Santiago
Chavanne and Mariano Gonzalez) were not able to qualify for the subsidiary and
will compete in a consolation match on Friday, January 24, with the time to be
announced. Los Monjitas (Camilo
Bautista, Geronimo Obregon, Eduardo Astrada and Alejandro Astrada) and CT
Energia (Alessandro Bazzoni, Kris Kampsen, Joao Ganon and Nick Manifold) will
also compete in a consolation match on Sunday, January 26th at 10AM.
The schedule for the Joe Barry Memorial Cup semifinals
remained unchanged, with Los Machitos/Heathcote (Steve Lefkowitz, Sterling
Giannico, Mariano Aguerre and Matias Magrini) meeting Tonkawa (Jeff Hildebrand,
Gonzalito Pieres, Rodrigo Andrade and Tomas Alberdi) at noon on Thursday,
January 23rd followed by a 3PM contest between Valiente (Bob
Jornayvaz, Santi Torres, Sapo Caset and Roberto Zedda) and Coca-Cola (Gillian
Johnston, Jeff Hall, Julio Arellano and Nick Morrison).
The withdrawal of the two Zenni teams (Villa Del
Lago/Casablanca and Palm Beach Illustrated) is seen as a strategic move to save
the horses for the upcoming Ylvisaker Cup.
