Veuve Clicquot Gold Cup Draw Procedures 2014
At the draw the 14 teams who have entered the Veuve Clicquot Gold Cup tournament for the British Open Championships will be drawn into 3 Groups. Group A and Group B will have 4 teams and will play cross over and Group C will have 6 which will play within their group and drop one game as described below.
The Tournament Committee have decided that El Remanso and Halcyon Gallery will NOT be placed in the same group.
Each team will play 4 qualifying games.
In order to ensure a balanced structure the draw will be as follows:-There will be 7 seeded teams.
The top 4 seeds are the 4 semi-finalists from the Cartier Queens Cup:-
- Enigma
- Talandracas
- UAE
- Zacara
The remaining 3 seeds are the losing ¼ finalists:-
- Dubai
- El Remanso
- Lucchese
Draw procedure
- The 4 top seed names Enigma, Talandracas, UAE and Zacara will be placed in a hat.
- 4 balls lettered A and B and two of C will be placed in another hat to represent the 3 Groups. This will result in 1 Semi Finalist in Group A and B respectively and 2 in Group C.
- A Veuve Clicquot representative will pull one team name out of the hat.
- A representative from that team will be called forward to pick a lettered ball to choose their group.
- The team name will be placed under the group chosen by the team representative on the board.
- The process will be repeated to select the four Semi Finalists and groups.
- The 3 balls lettered A,B and C will be returned to the hat.
- The remaining 3 seed names: Dubai, El Remanso and Lucchese will be added to the hat.
- A Veuve Clicquot representative will pull one team name out of the hat.
- A representative from that team will be called forward to pick a lettered ball to choose their group.
- The process will be repeated to select groups for the other 2 teams.
Selection of the remaining teams.
In order to ensure that El Remanso and Halcyon Gallery do not fall into the same group the following will apply:-
If El Remanso are drawn into either Group A or B then Halcyon Gallery will automatically be placed in Group C. The order for placings for the non-seeded teams within Group C will be redrawn at the end.
- The remaining teams will be placed into the hat.
- Lettered balls will be placed in another hat to represent each group space still available. This will result in the draw producing 4 teams in Groups A and B and 6 in Group C.
- A Veuve Clicquot representative will pull one team name out of the hat.
- A representative from that team will be called forward to pick a lettered ball out of the hat to choose their group.
- The team name will be placed under the group chosen by the representative on the board.
- This will be repeated until all teams have been placed in groups.
- In order to reduce the number of games to four in Group C with 6 teams, the following teams will not play each other:
- The first drawn seed and the first drawn non-seeded team.
- The second drawn seed and second drawn non-seeded team.
- The third drawn seed and the third drawn non-seeded team.
Note:If Halcyon Gallery are drawn in Group C, to determine the order of the non-seeded teams those 3 teams will be asked to select an envelope to pick their placing.
The Veuve Clicquot Gold Cup schedule will not show the times of the last set of games in all Groups until after the 3rd set of all Group games have been played.
Quarter Finals of the Veuve Clicquot Gold Cup12th/13th July 2014
The Order of Merit will be 1 to 8 from Groups A/B and Group C.
All group positions and placing of teams for knock out phases will be in accordance with the HPA Blue Book 2014 and any amendments that the HPA have subsequently made.

There will be no re-adjustment for any repeat games from the Groups games.
Penalty Shoot Out
Penalty Shootout will be used instead of goal difference to decide which teams on the same number of points will not qualify for the knockout phase.
Subsidiary Finals of the Veuve Clicquot Gold CupTuesday 15th July
Places for the Subsidiary Finals will be allocated from the remaining 9 teams in the continuing order of merit established above.
- Teams placed 9th v 10th will play for the Ashton Silver
- Teams placed 11th v 12th will play for the Jack Gannon
- Team placed 13th v 14th will play for the Tatham Cup
The timings for the Subsidiary Finals will be announced later.
Semi Finals of the Veuve Clicquot Gold Cup
These will take place on Wednesday 16th July for the Ellerston and Tramontana Cups.
