Sydney is already getting ready for hosting a historic edition of the FIP World Polo Championship, that promises to be one of the most spectacular ones so far, and has teamed up with PoloLine for all polo aficionados to get a preview of the action.
In December 2015, by invitation of FIP, Mr Peter Higgins owner of Sydney Polo Club, with the support of the State Government and Destination NSW, presented and won a bid to host the eleventh event in 2017.
The World Polo Championship will consist of 14-matches, played over six non-consecutive days, with two matches on each day (and one day holding four matches). The tournament starts with the opening party in Sydney CBD and runs until the finals. The finals will be held on Sunday 29 October 2017.
Eight international polo teams will compete for the World Champion title. Of the eight teams vying for the title, only six spots remain. The two teams who already hold a semi-final position and the chance to win are the host nation Australia, and the 2015 reigning World Champions, Chile.
