This year, the tournament trialed a new format, with each team including one male foreign professional; together with three female amateur players. This change was welcomed by all local players and proved to increase the standard of play. Singapore Polo Club General Manager, Torrey J. Dorsey stated, “This new format was suggestedand welcomed by the local polo “sorority” as it gave all eligible players the opportunity to participate in an international tournament. Some spectators were surprised to see men on the field at a women’s polo tournament, but quickly recognized the strength and value of these professionals. We will now sit with all relevant parties, including our valued sponsors, to discuss the future format for this tournament, but are sure to deliver another world-class event again next year!”

The tournament final was attended by some 400 guests, including members, sponsors, socialites and foreign dignitaries who gathered for the excitement and glamour of this prestigious event. The final commenced with Mrs. Gloria Barker, wife of the late Mr. E.W. (Eddie) Barker, the Honorary Minister for Law, performing the traditional throw-in ceremony with the Club Patron, Mr. Ameerali Jumabhoy, Club Vice President, Mr. Leon Chu and the Executive Chairman of Shanghai Tang, Mr. Raphael le Masne de Chermont.

The guests in attendance were entertained by an awe-inspiring Show Jumping exhibition by the Singapore Polo Club Riding Section and a beautiful fashion showcase by Shanghai Tang, featuring their 2010 Autumn/Winter collection, Devastating Beauty. All guests were once again treated to a generous supply of Laurent-Perrier Brut Rose champagne, Stella Artois draught beer, Appletiser sparkling juice, Evian water and Beschle chocolates.

All participating teams received specially designed jerseys and great prizes provided by title sponsor, Shanghai Tang. A unique Shanghai Tang Silk Satin Clutch Bag was awarded to Ms. Grace Zhou for winning the Best Hat Award. The celebrations continued well into the night with a BBQ and after-party, including the musical “exploits” of renowned local DJ, Chris Ho at field-side.
