2011 AUDI POLO AWARDS: NOMINATIONS ANNOUNCED
The nominations for the 2011 Audi Polo Awards have just been unveiled by the Awards’ voting committee. (Members of the committee and a full list of nominations included below).
Andrew Hine, former England polo captain and founding director of Polofix, and one of the Awards’ organisers, says: “There are some great teams and players who have been recognised and nominated from last season. Not surprisingly, Dubai, including their star player, Adolfo Cambiaso, have been nominated in every high goal category.
“Incredibly, from October 2009 until the end of the 2010 English High Goal Season, Adolfo Cambiaso was unbeaten – winning the Triple Crown in both Argentina and the USA and both the Queen’s Cup and British Gold Cup. This exceptional feat has never been achieved before!
“We urge members of the Hurlingham Polo Association to cast their votes by simply logging onto www.audipoloawards.com. The final decision is yours!”
This year the Audi Polo Awards, which have become the ‘Oscars’ of polo, take place at a beautiful new venue – Coworth Park in Ascot on Monday 16 May. Hundreds of polo stars and their supporters, which will read like the ‘Who’s Who’ of the sport, will gather for this prestigious annual social occasion – just at the start of the UK season. Due to popular demand, Hamish McLachlan, much-loved media star and a well-known face on the international polo circuit, will host the awards – once again.
By supporting the awards – along with its support of the England team – Audi has placed itself at the epicenter of the sport in the UK, and insiders regard its highly integrated sponsorship of polo in the UK as a big success.
Jon Zammett, head of PR for Audi UK, says: “We are very excited about the sixth Audi Polo Awards. The event has grown year on year and it is very appropriate that these prestigious awards are being held at the prestigious Coworth Park. It’s guaranteed to be an enjoyable occasion when we can all rightly celebrate excellence in the remarkable sport of polo.”
