Thursday was a day of Medium Goal in the Sotogrande Silver Cup with teams battling for a place in the next stage scheduled for Sunday. In the 17.30 games Roger Carlsson’s FCT team had their third loss this time against El Rosario (10-11) who secured their first win in three games. On another ground, Richard Fagan’s Silex team had their first loss, with two previous wins to their name with Mahra-Esperanza taking their second win 11-10. Whilst Lebeau-Courally with patron Ian Gailliene, Cristian Bernal, Gaetan Charloux and Ali Paterson, clearly still playing as strongly as on the fields at Cowdray in the recent Verve Clicquot Gold Cup, were the first team with three wins on the board beating Los Dragones (who now have achieved one win, two losses) 11-10.
In the later matches, Dimitri Vozianov with his son Nikita, Tomas Garbarini and Nicolas Espain also joined Lebeau-Courally with three straight wins, beating Raya Sidorenko’s Wild Orchid (now with two losses and one win) by a close 12-11. Elsewhere Abdelrahman Abbar’s Sapphire – Dr A had a third consecutive loss (7-10) with Craig Mckinney’s Woodchester team achieving their first win after losing their two previous games. In the other game of the day, Petrus Fernandini’s Leones could just not catch up with seven goal James Beim, Hugo Lewis and Juan Britos as Peter Silling’s Equus had their second win with a lead of nine goals and a final score of 12-3.
Medium Goal matches continue on Sunday with the final taking place next Thursday.
