Gold Cup Low Goal matches began on Tuesday 19th August in Sotogrande with Valdeparras-Marques de Torneros (Carlos Toca de Togores, Jorge Espinosa, Diogo Gallego) meeting Silex on PHI and Huntsman (Aristide Faggionato, Dillon Bacon, Felipe Gomez and Ivan Maldonado) facing Kazab Shakib (Sebastien Aguettant, Mariano Iturrioz, Alvaro Ara and Kaveh Shakib) on PHII.

It was to be a successful morning for Silex, who beat Valdeparras-Marques de Torneros 11-6, and a still undefeated Huntsman (which included Dillon Bacon who substituted in HB Polo’s opening Gold Cup High Goal game and won) who went 8 goals ahead (13-5) of Kazab Shakib.  In the later game at 12:15 Serdanola finished five goals ahead of Bayswater (14-9) having previous only beaten them by half a goal at their last meeting.

Later, four teams played their opening Gold Cup High Goal matches, first up were the Silver Cup Subsidiary Final winners King Power (Top Srivaddhannaprabha, Alejandro Muzzio, Marcos Di Paola and Martin Espain) against Inigo Zobel, Diego Cavanagh, David and Santiago Stirling – Ayala Polo Team (who beat King Power 11-7 in their Bronze Cup league match on Monday 28th July).  Once again, in their second High Goal encounter in Sotogrande it was not to be King Power’s day as Ayala Polo Team finally put their 12th goal on the scoreboard to King Power’s 7th.

In the last of Tuesday’s matches, Robert Jornayvaz, Santiago Laborde, Adolfo Cambiaso and Santiago Torres, team Valiente (Bronze and Silver Cup winners – who still remain undefeated in Sotogrande this season) faced Royal Salute (Roger Carlsson, Lucas James, Jaime García Huidobro and Malcolm Borwick).   As in all their previous games, an unstoppable Valiente were ahead (in this match by four goals) and at the final bell it was Valiente 13 to Royal Salute’s 9.
