First up on Monday for the penalty shootout at 11am were RH v Halcyon Gallery; drawing level after the 40 yard penalties, the shootout moved to 60 yards, where RH won their Gold Cup High Goal Semi Final place on Wednesday. RH were quickly followed into the Semi’s by King Power, who beat Lechuza Caracas. Therefore on Wednesday at 17:00 Valiente will play RH (who they beat 14-13 on Monday 28th July, in both teams’ first High Goal Bronze Cup league game of the 2014 Sotogrande season, with this being the first meeting since) and at 18:30 Ellerston are against King Power for their first meeting in the Sotogrande High Goal (with Gonzalo Pieres ironically now facing Top Srivaddhannaprabha and Marcos Di Paolo in King Power Polo Team who he previously joined forces with for a very successful Verve Clicquot Gold Cup run at Cowdray).
Later in the Medium Goal Semis, Equus beat Woodchester by 16 goals to 11 and won the first place in Friday’s Medium Goal Gold Cup Final. In the Subsidiary Final on PH II, it was Mahra-Esperanza 11 v 9 Sainte Mesme. In the later 18:30 Subsidiary Final Lebeau-Courally beat Silex by one goal 9-8, therefore in Friday’s Subsidiary Semi at 16:30 Mahra-Esperanza will play Lebeau Courally on LPI.
In the final Semi Final of the day, Seven Sevens (Dimitri Vozianov, Tomas Garbarini, Nicolas Espain and Nikia Vozianov) played FCT, with Stefan Sund (more frequently seen on the lawns at Guards Polo Club) subbing for Roger Carlsson (who is playing with Royal Salute in the High Goal) alongside Mario Gomez, Michel Del Carril and Sebastian Hancock (who also plays out of Guards). Seven Sevens truly lived up to their name with 7 being their final score on the board, but it was not enough against FCT’s 8 goals, putting FCT through into Friday’s Medium Goal Gold Cup Final at 18:00 on LPIII against Equus.
