DUBAI POLO TEAM WINS THE BULGARI GOLD CUP AND IS THE CHAMPION OF THE 44th LAND ROVER INTERNATIONAL POLO TOURNAMENT AT SANTA MARÍA POLO CLUB
Dubai Polo Team is the champion of the Bulgari Gold Cup after defeating Lechuza Caracas in the final by 12-10. They are the winners of the most important trophy of the 44th Land Rover International Polo Tournament.
The squad formed by Rashid Albwardy, Martín Valent, Alejo Taranco and Adolfo Cambiaso achieved two trophies in the High Goal: the INDI Silver Cup and the Bulgari Gold Cup. They have been the best team of the season in Santa María Polo Club.
Cambiaso’s talent, Albwardy’s goals, Valent’s work and Taranco were the perfect combination for the unbeatable team.
Today’s final match was barely different from the one that these two teams played for the INDI Silver Cup two weeks ago. Lechuza Caracas fought hard and made it difficult for Dubai Polo Team. The scoreboard kept tied in five of the six chukkers. But it was in the last time when Cambiaso goaled and achieved the final result: 12-9.
Lechuza Caracas played hard to the end, but the final was written. Dubai deserved the Bulgari Gold Cup.
Once known the results, it was time for the awards. The first one delivered was the Best Pony Trophy, sponsored by the Argentinean Embassy, an award for the mare Yun Yun, rode by Adolfo Cambiaso in the third and the sixth chukkers.
Carlos Espinosa de los Monteros, High Commisioner of Marca España, gave Juan Martín Nero (Lechuza Caracas) the trophy for the Best Player in the Tournament.
Dos Lunas A&G Banca Privada received the Subsidiary Cup by Pedro Domecq Urquijo.
The Spanish Secretary of Sports Council and President of the Superior Sports Board, Miguel Cardenal, and the mayor of San Roque, Juan Carlos Ruiz Boix, gave the trophy to the finalists, Lechuza Caracas.
Finally, Vincenzo Pujia, CEO at Bulgari Spain, and the top model Nieves Álvarez delivered the Bulgari Gold Cup to the champion, Dubai Polo Team.
Historic afternoon in Santa María Polo Club
Many familiar faces, a great ambience and a unique spectacle inside and outside the fields were the keynotes of a perfect closure. The final was broadcasted live on ESPN for the entire American continent, and in streaming for the globe. Thousands of fans coming from all over the world filled the stands, terraces and the hospitality boxes to enjoy the most important game of the month. When it finished, people gathered around the bars, the Polo Shopping Village and the Food Truck Polo Experience, the b-+ig shopping surprise of this edition to continue this special day.
The 44th Land Rover International Polo Tournament at Santa María Polo Club closes the competition with another victory on the nine fields, considered one of the best and largest in the world to play this sport. The tournament, one of the four international essential dates in the Season, sets Andalusia on the podium of excellence, a desired location for the best polo players in the world and the most demanding standards.
The biggest event of Santa María Polo Club, organized by Premium Sport&Marketing, has been sponsored by Land Rover as an official partner. Grey Goose, INDI and Bulgari are the companies that have sponsored the Bronze Cup, the Silver Cup and and the Gold Cup, respectively. Valecuatro has also sponsored the Low Goal competition.
