Park Place Dominant in U.S. Open Polo Championship® Victory
Resuming play in the U.S. Open Polo Championship hosted by the National Polo Center – Wellington (NPC), Two Trees by Jefferies (Will Johnston, Mariano Aguerre, Miguel Novillo Astrada, Juan Sánchez Elia) faced Park Place (Andrey Borodin, Juan Britos, Hilario Ulloa, Jason Wates).
Making their U.S. Open Polo Championship debut, Park Place’s sharpshooting duo of Britos and Ulloa combined for eight goals in the first half, including six off the mallet of Ulloa. Attempting thirteen shots from the field, Park Place’s offensive onslaught saw each of their four teammates reach the scoreboard. Accentuating their dominant effort, Park Place relegated Two Trees by Jefferies to goals from Astrada and Elia to take a commanding 11-5 lead at the horn. Attempting just four shots from the field in the first half, Two Trees by Jefferies began to push in the fourth with a penalty conversion from Astrada followed by a successful drive from Johnston. Kept off the scoreboard for the first time in the fourth chukker, Park Place’s Ulloa quickly rebounded to go on a run of four unanswered goals, earning his tenth of the match to easily deliver his team the 16-8 victory.
Best Playing Pony was awarded to “Lavinia Irupe,” played and owned by Hilario Ulloa.
